چکیده
The present study investigates whether native speakers of German phonetically accommodate to natural and synthetic voices in a shadowing experiment. We aim determine this phenomenon, which is frequently found HHI, also occurs HCI involving speech. examined features pertain different phonetic domains: allophonic variation, schwa epenthesis, realization pitch accents, word-based temporal structure distribution spectral energy. On the individual level, we that participants converged varying subsets features, while they maintained their baseline behavior other cases or, rare instances, even diverged from model voices. This shows accommodation with respect one particular feature may not predict another feature. group condition all under examination, however very subtly so for epenthesis. voices, partly reducing strength effects triggered accommodating as well. predominant pattern voice types was convergence during interaction followed by divergence after interaction.

Close shadowing natural vs. synthetic speech
Close shadowing experiments involving natural and synthetic stimuli are here described. Preliminary results show that speakers are able to follow natural stimuli with an average delay less than 50 ms whereas this delay exceeds 100 ms for stimuli produced by Text-to-speech systems. A complementary experiment shows that this contrast is mainly due to prosody.
